EQUIPMENT WE LOAD TEST

WHEN TO LOAD TEST

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that lifting devices be tested before initial use to ensure they can safely lift the rated capacity. The OSHA standard requires the test load must be at least 100%, but no more than 125%, of the rated capacity unless otherwise recommended by the original equipment manufacturer.

Whether you have lifting devices, overhead and gantry cranes, pallet or coil lifters, or other load bearing parts, YorkHoist will ensure you receive the appropriate OSHA load testing for your application.

Prior to
Initial Use

All newly installed cranes, hoists, and lifting devices must be load tested at a capacity of 125% prior to initial use.

Equipment
Modifications

Equipment that has been re-rated or structurally modified in any way must be load tested again prior to certify the device for the rated capacity

Major Repairs
or Upgrades

Equipment that has undergone major repairs or upgrades must be load tested to ensure repairs were completed correctly.

Re-Installation
of Asset

Assets that have been re-installed after being dismantled or taken down for repairs/maintenance.

Equipment Out
of Service

Equipment that has been out of service for a significant period of time must be load tested prior to returning to service.

Moving
an Asset

Assets that have been relocated to a new facility or a different location must be load tested.
